Customer
East Coast Repair Station

Application
25,000 lb. Electrical Enclosures

Background
This application involves a large repair station located on the east coast that refurbishes electrical enclosures ranging from 15,000 lbs. to 25,000 lbs and 72” to 120” in height. These enclosures are square boxes with diagonals of 8 -10’. Every 10 years, these assemblies must be opened, rebuilt, thoroughly cleaned, and painted prior to being put back into commission.

Problem
Because of the size and weight of these parts, this facility had previously been hand cleaning each enclosure with a hose and an alkaline cleaner which took two (2) men several days to clean. This process was labor intensive and caused a variety of environmental concerns. The inside of these parts are covered with oil and the outside is coated with road dirt and oxidized paint. Removal of all oxidized paint was crucial in order to allow the adhesion of a fresh coat of paint.

Solution
Design a turntable system that handles up to a 25,000 lb. part, has 130” inside vertical clearance, and a 132” diameter turntable. This dual tank, “PCS” system pristinely cleans the enclosures so they are ready for painting. The company is now automatically cleaning several enclosures per day.

System
A stainless steel PCS dual tank (wash and rinse) turntable system (with the design dimensions above) capable of removing all traces of oxidized paint. Complete with insulation for heat conservation, this unit has all the amenities standard on Better Engineering’s Precision Cleaning Systems including two (2) 40 HP pumps.
