Background
This leading producer of cast bronze memorial products
uses a manufacturing process that combines age-old casting
techniques with the latest technology. Problem
Lead letters are "glued" using a special
wax to a zinc plate called a “pattern”.
After a sand casting is made, the letters were laboriously
hand scraped from the pattern so it could be used again.
The customer approached Better Engineering to see if
hot water could melt the wax so the letters would simply
fall off these plates.
Solution/System
A C-24-S3 conveyor parts washer proved to
be the perfect solution. The customer loads their
patterns on the belt with a forward tilt. Hot
water and high impact spray nozzles force the
letters off the plate onto the tight mesh conveyor
belt. On the exit end, the letters fall into a
container and the bare plates are removed for
the next casting.
