Background
This company is a high volume manufacturer of 55 gallon steel drums. Starting with coiled steel, they make the entire drum and then paint/coat the drums as specified by their customers.
Problem
Their previous conveyor washer was too slow and had created a huge bottleneck in production. Furthermore, the lids were not getting dry. Three (3) laborers had to hand wipe the parts before they entered the paint system.

Solution/System
A conveyor washer with two (2) lanes and which conveys the lids on edge and with the diameters parallel with the direction of travel. This orientation results in uniform cleaning and allows the water to be sheered-off at high speed. The system runs at 45 FPM and outputs 2200 lids per hour (1100 per lane.) This “C-24” system is 42 feet long and has 5 modules/stages (a wash module, 2 rinse modules and 2 dry modules.) The lids are automatically conveyed to and from the washer. |
