Parts washer for a MACHINE SHOP to remove machining oil from fasteners.

Thoroughly Wash Fasteners to Make Them Residue-Free for the Next Stage in Production

BACKGROUND
This machine shop, located in Washington State, is a manufacturer of specialty fasteners. The part involved in this application is a fastener embedded into a snow board which is used to anchor the bindings to the snow board. The parts are covered with a light machining oil.

PROBLEM
The company’s customer places these fasteners on a base of wood and applies several layers of fiberglass to the board. The fasteners have internal threads that cannot have fiberglass applied. In order to prevent the fiberglass from entering the threads, they place an adhesive-backed round paper dot over the threads. It is critical that the fasteners be clean, dry and residue-free so that the “dots” will adhere to the fasteners.

SOLUTION/SYSTEM
A Cyclojet 1 system with two (2) ARC-22’s (first rinse for gross contaminants and the second, a final rinse), a 5 hp regenerative blower, and a 12.8 KW heat tube for drying.
