Parts washer for TOOL & DIE COMPANY to clean filter screens.

Rinse and Dry
Machining Fluids
and Particulate from
Mesh within the
Screens

BACKGROUND
This tooling company is manufacturing multiple sized metal screens (like filters) varying in density for straining petroleum based fibers to produce material suitable to manufacture fabrics. These aluminum and copper parts had previously been cleaned using an ozone depleting trichorethylene (TCE) in a vapor degreaser which needed to be eliminated for obvious environmental reasons.

PROBLEM
After machining, these screens were covered with machining oils and small chips which had to be removed before shipping to the customer. The proposed system had to meet the following conditions: a) the system had to utilize an aqueous solution, b) be totally automatic, c) be capable of washing, rinsing, and drying several thousand screens with an ultra-fine mesh, and d) due to limited production space, the system had to fit in a relatively small footprint.

SOLUTION
Better Engineering performed a complete analysis finding that an orbiting/submersing action was critical in order to effectively wash, rinse and dry the machining fluids and particulate from within the mesh of these ultra-fine screens. Fitted with a two (2) basket design, this Cyclojet 3 is cleaning several thousand screens in less than a 15 minute cycle (wash, rinse and dry) and is utilizing less total space than their previous system.

SYSTEM
A Stainless Steel Cyclojet 3 with a two (2) basket design, equipped with the following options: Complete insulation, heated air dry, inline filter system, an oil water separator, and sight glass drains on both the wash tank and the rinse tank to visually check water levels.
