Ultrasonic parts washer for MANUFACTURER OF AUTOMOTIVE SHOCKS cleaning sealing discs.

Washing System Using
Ultrasonics to Thoroughly
Clean High Volumes of
Very Thin Discs

Background
This company is a global leader in emissions and ride control (shocks and struts) devices with 74 manufacturing facilities located in 22 countries and on 6 continents.

Problem
This part is a very thin wafer style disc (1 1/4” dia.) used in automotive shocks. They were being cleaned in a vapor degreaser and then shipped out to sister plants where they are fed into automatic assembly machines. The problem was that the parts were not getting clean enough....there was still some oil on the parts causing them to stick together which in turn jammed the assembly units. They tried using a drum washer, but after the first try an entire truckload (millions of discs) was rejected.

Solution
Utilizing a tumbling machine with ultrasonics, BE was able to wash, rinse and dry 200 lbs. of “discs” in an 12 minute cycle. After months of service, the customer reported that their shipments have never again been rejected.

System
A Cyclojet 3 (4 basket design) tumbling system with ultrasonics. This system also included the following options: heated air dry system, steam heat for the tanks, an evacuation pump, and micron level water filtration.
