Parts washer for ALUMINUM EXTRUSION MANUFACTURER to clean condensor housings.

Remove Zinc
Stearate Lubricant
from High Volumes
of Condensor Cans

BACKGROUND
This company is a world leader in the field of aluminum extrusions. Their products range from automotive components to aerosol cans to collapsible tubes used to hold hand lotions.

PROBLEM
Replace a trichlor vapor degreaser with a water based parts cleaning system. The new system needed to clean at least 10,000 "cans" (housings for automotive condensers) per day. The soil that had to be removed is a stubborn zinc stearate lubricant. Additionally, heat from the extrusion process causes black specks to bake onto the interior walls.

Tests proved that a conventional belt washer would not work and that the only way to remove the "black specks" is to continuously blast the interior of each can for 2 mins. This led to the next challenge how do you clean 10,000 cans a day this way?

SOLUTION
The answer was a sophisticated indexing system with lots of cleaning power. The operator loads 2 baskets of 25 cans/ea. Every two mins., a sweeper grabs the 2 baskets and brings them into the wash module (baskets are also pushed to the rinse, dry , and unload stations). When the baskets stop at the wash, rinse, and dry stations, there are individual nozzles centered above and below each of the 50 "cans". The result is a system that flawlessly cleans 1500 parts per hour and which can output as many as 36,000 parts per day.

SYSTEM
A customized C-24 Cyber-Jet system with wash, rinse, and dry modules... all stainless....furnished with custom baskets and an indexing chain conveyor...50 HP wash pump which outputs 400 GPM at 80 PSI...separate wash, rinse, and dry nozzles for each can...marine clean-out doors, etc...
