Parts washing unit for SPORTS EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURER to clean aluminium baseball bats.

Thoroughly Wash
Aluminum Bats and
Also Apply Lubricant
before Drying

BACKGROUND
This company can trace its beginning back to the year 1912, when a tannery in Tullahoma, Tennessee was purchased initially to tan leather for harnesses and horse collars they manufactured. Then the owners shifted its manufacturing resources toward production of leather covered baseballs and softballs, then to baseball and softball bats.

PROBLEM
In the process of making their aluminum baseball bats, the parts have to be cleaned and lubricated several times. The customer needed to stop using solvents for cleaning the parts and was also looking for a better way of applying the lubricant.

SOLUTION
Better Engineering was able to solve both of their problems with two (2) customized turntable systems. The first unit, which had three (3) tanks, not only cleaned the parts but also applied a "dry" lubricant prior to extrusion. The automatic cycle actually consisted of five (5) stages: rinse, wash, rinse, apply lubricant, and dry. The second unit cleaned the parts after swaging and cutting. Both units have special racks that can be hoisted off the turntable.

SYSTEM
F-5000LX-P "Purifier" jet washers. 50" dia. turntable, 50" work height, all wetted parts are stainless steel. Unit one had three (3) holding tanks. Unit two had two (2) tanks. Both units had hot air drying systems.
