Background
This company has been in the die casting business for over 40 years. A large part of their business is supplying aluminum die castings for automotive manufacturers...they also machine the castings.
Problem
The company won a major contract to supply transmission cases. After die casting, the cases had to be machined and then cleaned to a millipore specification. Removing the chips out of the deep valve body crevices proved to be a challenge.
Solution
Design small, cellular type systems that could easily be retooled should the contract not be renewed. Better Engineering supplied turntable systems that had the extra power and special spray manifolds required to blow the chips out of all the intricate crevices. These systems consistently meet the 40 mg cleanliness specification.
System
An F-4000-P jet washer which has a 40 " dia. turntable and 40 " of working height. The part sits on UHMW plastic spokes to prevent metal to metal contact. A quick connect center manifold sprays the ID of the cases as the turntable is rotating. Special nozzles blast out the chips from the valve body area.
