Background
This company, founded in 1899, is a global supplier of automotive components and sub-systems serving the world's original equipment manufacturers and the aftermarket. Their 49,000 employees operate in 150 manufacturing facilities in 24 countries.
Problem
The customer needed small cellular washers to clean their intricate pistons. The pistons have a large internal cavity that can only be accessed via three (3) small holes on the underside of the parts...the system had to clean and dry this cavity, as well as the overall piston.
Solution
The only way to clean and dry the internal cavity was to
alternatively blast water and then air into 2 of the 3 entrance holes. The debris and water exited the third hole. The parts were precisely fixtured and the flushing nozzles rotated with the turntable. Periphery manifolds cleaned and dried the outside of the pistons.
System
T-2500 "Purifier": a jet washing system with a 25" dia. turntable, all wetted parts are stainless, fixturing to hold four (4) pistons, rotary coupler for the flushing nozzles, regenerative blower and air heater for drying.
