Background
This 100 year old manufacturer had its products used by the U.S. military and various police forces since World War I. More recently products by this manufacturer have become the “must have” for the “motor cycling experience”. They specialize in larger engine displacement street and tour bikes.
Problem
Following a major corporate directive to convert to cellular, one-piece-flow manufacturing, the plant in question had to replace their large centralized cleaning systems with small, compact machines that could fit within their work cells. Many of the team members responsible for machine selection did not think a small cleaning system could do the job. Each cell had its’ own criteria and challenges.
Solution
For the cells in question, customized belt washers were the best solution. The length of the systems allowed operators on each end to take only a step or two from the other machines they operate. The stampings exit the system clean and dry...an electric eye stops the belt until the unload operator removes the parts.
System
C-36-S3/DA "Cyber-Jet" conveyor washer: two (2) stage wash/dry system, 36" wide conveyor belt, 100% stainless steel, mist collection unit to avoid exhausting the steam through the roof, micron filtration for the wash solution.
