Aerospace manufacturers require a reliable method for cleaning large rocket panels without slowing production or compromising strict quality standards. In this case, the challenge was integrating a high-capacity cleaning system into an existing rocket panel manufacturing process while maintaining efficient throughput and safe handling of oversized components. Panels measuring up to 23 feet long and 12 feet wide required a solution capable of delivering consistent, high-quality cleaning while fitting seamlessly into the established workflow.
Approach
To address these requirements, a C-150 Cyberjet system equipped with a Powered Shuttle System was implemented to automate the cleaning process for large rocket panels. Panels are loaded and unloaded using an overhead crane, after which the shuttle table transfers each component into the cleaning chamber. The shuttle mechanism advances the part through sequential wash, rinse, and drying stages, ensuring complete surface coverage throughout the cycle. Constructed from stainless steel and equipped with two heated wash tanks, a fresh rinse stage, and heated drying, the system provides a controlled, repeatable cleaning process capable of handling large aerospace components efficiently.
Results
The automated cleaning system significantly improved both productivity and cleaning consistency within the rocket panel production line. Panels can now be fully processed in as little as 15 minutes, dramatically reducing cleaning cycle times compared to previous methods. In addition to faster throughput, the system delivers more consistent cleaning results, supporting higher quality standards for aerospace components while allowing the production process to operate more efficiently.
