Challenge
Transit components vary significantly in size, weight, and geometry, and are often coated with grease, oil, and road contaminants. The customer needed a transit part washer that could safely support heavy loads while delivering repeatable cleaning results without relying on solvents. Limited maintenance space, frequent daily use, and operator safety concerns made equipment durability, ergonomics, and ease of operation critical requirements.
Approach
Better Engineering supplied two Purifier F-5000 cabinet part washers, each engineered as a heavy-duty turntable part washer for batch-style aqueous cleaning. The fixed turntable design allows large transit components to be loaded directly onto the washer without rolling carts or suspended loads, significantly improving operator safety during loading and unloading.
Each system features a sealed stainless-steel cleaning chamber and high-impact spray manifolds positioned above, below, and around the turntable to ensure complete coverage throughout the wash cycle. Better Engineering’s Purifier filtration system continuously removes chips, sludge, and oil from the wash solution, extending bath life and maintaining consistent cleaning performance.
Integrated electric heating, automatic water-level controls, and an intuitive HMI-based control system enable operators to run repeatable cleaning cycles with minimal manual intervention. Built from heavy-gauge stainless steel and backed by lifetime warranties on critical infrastructure, both aqueous cleaning systems were designed for continuous, long-term use in transit maintenance operations.
Results
The two cabinet part washers provide reliable, repeatable cleaning of large transit components in a single automated cycle. Improved consistency in cleanliness supports faster maintenance turnaround, while the aqueous process reduces reliance on manual cleaning. With robust construction and integrated filtration, the systems minimize downtime and ongoing maintenance, helping maintenance teams keep transit vehicles in service.
Conclusion
This dual-system installation highlights Better Engineering’s ability to deliver rugged, purpose-built transit part washer solutions. By combining safe turntable ergonomics, durable cabinet construction, and proven aqueous cleaning technology, the two Purifier systems support dependable, long-term performance. The result is a cleaner process, a safer workspace, and more efficient transit maintenance operations.
