Approach

Better Engineering provided a D-24 three-stage drum washer designed for continuous processing of brass shell casings. Parts enter the rotating drum directly from the annealing oven and move through integrated wash, rinse, and drying stages. The drum uses internal scoops to lift and circulate cleaning solutions, fully immersing the casings during the wet stages without the need for pumps. Constructed entirely of stainless steel, the system provides durable operation while ensuring effective solution circulation and consistent exposure of the parts to each stage of the cleaning process.

Results

The drum washer enabled the manufacturer to process brass shell casings at a rate of 30 to 35 pounds per minute, producing approximately 26,000 cleaned shells per hour.
