Challenge

The primary issue wasn’t whether parts were being cleaned, but how consistently they were being cleaned. Variability in manual processes meant that some parts were properly prepared for coating, while others required rework.

In addition, the process lacked the structure needed to support higher production demands. Without a repeatable system in place, cleaning became a limiting step rather than a reliable part of the workflow.

Approach

Better Engineering provided a custom F-4000-P aqueous cabinet parts washer, designed to bring consistency and control to the cleaning process.

To improve cleaning consistency and part coverage, the system uses a rotating turntable paired with high-impact spray manifolds for full 360-degree spray application. Components are loaded directly onto the turntable and processed within an enclosed wash chamber, where controlled spray reaches all exposed surfaces during the cycle. The result is a repeatable cleaning process that supports better overall part cleanliness and more consistent outcomes.

To support consistent performance over time, the cabinet parts washer is equipped with a belt skimmer and bag filtration system that remove oils and debris from the wash solution. By helping control contamination in the tank, this setup extends solution life and contributes to more reliable cleaning results.

The system’s HMI-based controls make it easy for operators to run repeatable wash cycles with predefined temperatures and wash times, helping improve process consistency while minimizing manual intervention.

Results

With the new automatic parts washer in place, cleaning became a predictable and repeatable part of production rather than a variable step.

Parts entering the powder coating process showed more consistent surface condition, helping improve coating adhesion and overall finish quality. At the same time, operators no longer needed to adjust the process from load to load, which reduced variability and simplified day-to-day operation.

Conclusion

For this application, the biggest improvement wasn’t just cleaner parts, it was consistency. By moving from a manual process to a controlled, automated system, the manufacturer was able to standardize surface preparation ahead of powder coating.

The F-4000-P aqueous cabinet parts washer provided a reliable foundation for that consistency, combining mechanical action, filtration, and process control into a single system. The result is a more stable operation, better coating outcomes, and a process that can scale with production demands.
