Challenge
Cleaning perforated metal isn’t a flat-surface problem. The customer needed a solution capable of thoroughly cleaning a wide variety of perforated materials, from narrow strips to large sheets up to 60 inches wide, all while maintaining consistent quality at a production speed of 18 feet per minute. The complexity of the perforations created countless small openings where debris, oils, and contaminants could hide, making uniform cleaning difficult. At the same time, the system had to safely handle both roll-fed and individual parts without compromising throughput or process control.
Approach
Better Engineering engineered a custom Cyberjet C-60 stainless steel conveyor washer designed to tackle the unique challenges of perforated materials. The system was built to accommodate a wide range of part sizes and configurations, ensuring flexibility across different product types.
To maintain consistent cleaning performance, the washer integrates controlled part handling with hold-down mechanisms that stabilize materials as they move through the system. An electronic eye monitors part flow, helping synchronize operation and maintain process accuracy. Safety features such as locking door switches provide secure operation while allowing for efficient, continuous processing.
The conveyorized design supports steady throughput, ensuring that even at higher production speeds, all surfaces including internal perforations receive proper exposure to the cleaning process.
Results
The Cyberjet C-60 delivered a versatile and reliable cleaning solution capable of handling perforated materials across a broad size range. Its ability to process parts from as narrow as a few inches up to 60 inches wide allowed the customer to standardize cleaning across multiple product lines.
Enhanced process control features improved consistency and repeatability, while integrated safety mechanisms ensured secure operation. The result was a stable, high-throughput cleaning process that maintained quality while reducing variability across different part types.
Conclusion
The Cyberjet C-60 demonstrates how a well-engineered conveyor washer can transform a complex cleaning challenge into a controlled, repeatable process. By combining flexible part handling, precise process control, and integrated safety features, the system delivers consistent results across a wide range of perforated materials. This solution not only meets the demands of high-speed production but also ensures reliability and quality across diverse industrial applications.
